Chilly Hilly

April 16, 2013

Went out to ride after work, since the daylight savings time changeover, I've been rushing home to go out and ride. Didn't travel very far from home base for this, and manageed to ride just over 14 miles and climb 1500 feet in the fairly flat neighborhoods around my home. It was my first real ride with the clipless pedals in the 'hood, so I really attacked my Chestnut Ascent segment, and bested my first ride on the road bike by 17 seconds. I was really happy with that time. Found another hill climb up into a cul-de-sac, called Aronow Drive. Then went over by the big nemesis, Poplar Drive. Found that the ascent up the Poplar side was actually easier than coming up Tracy Place. So I put together a nice route there to take it from all sides one after the other. It's a nasty ride, but not very long. Then, by accident, found Welcome Dr. I turned left from Woodley and Deborah, thinking that it would get me back to Timber Drive, only to run into the dead end of a cul-de-sac. So it's a nice steepie to climb as well. 6 months ago, this ride probably would have killed me. Now, I look forward to challenging myself. What a long way I've come.
