Day 4 of the TDF and Gear
July 05, 2013
For Day 1 of the Tour de France, I went on a bike ride withe the VeloDCity folks, for 8200 feet of climbing around Catoctin Ridge. It was quite a humbling experience. Must train harder these last 11 days.
Days 2 and 3 had me doing a recovery ride around the Arlington Loop, which became a second day due to the continued soreness in my legs. I didn't quite stay in Zones 1 & 2 though, as both days threatened and delivered rain.
Now that it's Day 4, I'm starting my review of what I need to take with me on a very sporty bike trip to the Tour de France.
Never having done this before, I'm not sure what to bring, so I'm going with:
- 5 Bibs
- 5 Jerseys
- 5 Pairs of Socks
- 2 Hats/Bandanas
- 3 Pairs of Gloves
- Chamois Cream & Cleaner
- Shoes/Helmet/Pedals/Saddle
- 3 Spare Tubes
- 1 Spare Tire
- Saddle Bag
- Garmin + HRM + Speed/Cadence
- GoPro
- Box of Skratch labs hydration
- 3 Water Bottles
And that's just for the riding. Add in normal clothes, dop kit, my contour pillow, laptop, etc, and its a lot of stuff to haul around. And chargers/power. Got the phone, the camera, the GoPro, Laptop, Garmin, and I'm actually going to take a power strip to plug into my converter.
Not sure what I'm going to take to get autographs on. Any ideas?
